I give three courses on areas of science, not necessarily all in the same year, through the
Centre for Continuing Studies at the University of Auckland. The courses are entitled
The Modern Solar System; Planet Earth and
Stars, Galaxies and Cosmology.
The courses are independent of one another and I
assume no tertiary education or previous knowledge of science.
Each course is either five or six two-hour evening lectures
on consecutive weeks, and each lecture consists of two 50 minute segments with a ten minute
break. I make liberal use of pictures and diagrams, and provide handouts for each lecture.
In 2016, I gave the course Stars, Galaxies and Cosmology. As of August 5, 2016
no decision has been made about which courses will be held in 2017.
