Summer School: 5 January - 17 February 2010

  • The summer school is seen as an excellent opportunity for students to concentrate on a single course. A Summer school handbook is available here.
  • The Mathematics mid-semester test and final exam dates will be announced in the Study guides. Check the courses webpages for the respective timetables.
  • The following Mathematics courses are available during the Summer semester: the Superstart programme, , MATHS 102, MATHS 108, MATHS 208, MATHS 701, and also supervised postgraduate projects in Mathematics Education, Pure and Applied Mathematics.
  • Lectures and tutorials: 5 January to 12 February 2010

Important Notes

  • Assistance room: The Assistance room will be open for MATHS 102-108-208 personalised support. Please visit the Assistance room page for further details.
  • Course books: MATHS 102, MATHS 108 and MATHS 208 Course Books are available for purchase from the University Book Shop (UBS) or may be downloaded from Cecil.
  • Deadline for changing courses: The deadline for changing your enrolment to a Summer Semester course is usually one week after the beginning of your course.

MATHS 208 - General Mathematics 2

for students who passed MATHS 108, 130, MATHS 150, 151, 153, ENGSCI 111, PHYSICS 111, or an equivalent course


MATHS 108 - General Mathematics 1

for students with 12 or more credits in NCEA Level 3 Calculus or 18 or more credits in NCEA level 3 Statistics

A first year course for students who have completed year 13 Calculus. Students planning to major in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Finance or Economics should enrol in MATHS 150 - Advancing Mathematics 1


MATHS 102 - Functioning in Mathematics

for students with less than 12 credits in NCEA level 3 Mathematics or Statistics

A preparation for MATHS 108.
