Provisional registration and the thesis research proposal

If your programme is accepted, and you have paid your fees, you become provisionally registered. Your registration is confirmed after 12 months provided you achieve your provisional goals.

These provisional goals include:

  • completion of one substantial piece of written work within 12 months,
  • presentation of research progress to a departmental seminar and
  • writing a full thesis proposal.

The provisional year progress review

The PhD thesis research proposal must be submitted together with the Provisional Year review at the end of the first year.
